Moyes discovers his squad plusses and minuses

By Hughie Southon

West Ham boss David Moyes was keen to test the depth of his squad last night and came away from Lincoln with plusses and minuses.

We of course understand that Mo Kudus is gonna be big for us eventually and appears to have put in another whole-hearted performance from what one could lean from the highlights and radio commentary whilst Mavropanos, Ben Johnson and Tomas Soucek were very much on the case.

Ben Johnson did himself no harm

It is good to see or hear of Soucek performing like his old self and thus far Mavro looks like challenging hard for Aguerd’s position. Let’s say no more than that Aguerd worries me quite a bit.

The other two who remain a concern are Benny and Maxwel Cornet who from what one reads and sees still has left his Burnley form which cost us around £17 million in the market.

Benny has every reason to worry about how he will make the Premier League team given his apparent final ball wastefulness last night of which we have been aware in previous games of course.

It’s a very decent squad in the main but Danny Ings remains a problem too having missed two or three great chances last night.

Still a bit of work to be done.
