Moyes discusses Zouma blow

David Moyes was unable to explain too much on Kurt Zouma’s injury but reports claim the central defender has twisted an ankle and will need a scan.

With the extent of the injury still a mystery we can only keep our fingers crossed the big man can make it for possibly the game of the season so far.

You have to admire the  man despite big reservations over the controversy which leads to him becoming boringly booed in every game – copycat stuff which the intelligent deserted fans have never joined.

It hasn’t affected him one bit seemingly because he is as cool, calm and collected at the back as ever. His injury would be a big blow because he is inspirational to the team as a whole beyond his natural abilities.

We of course have an adequate sub in Issa Diop but fingers should and will be firmly crossed the big fella makes it.

Moyes – discussing his injury – said: “I’ve not had the chance to speak to the medical team yet, but it’s always the thing when you play Thursday to Sunday.

We’ve done really well with it for most of the season, but if you do it, it can catch up with you. Not just for us, but if you look at the clubs who tend to be in the European competitions the Thursday-Sunday games can become quite difficult. Today was difficult.

Obviously we had a big game in midweek and have got another one to come, and we’re trying to win these games.

We don’t want to give our league position up – we’re trying to fight to either get fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and be in Europe again, so we have to come here and try to win.

It’s not easy to come to Brentford, they’re in good form, but I thought it was a low-level game in the first half and we gave them a lift up by giving them the goal right at the start of the second half.

Today we just fell a bit short in most things, whether it be desire, intensity, and certainly our quality today was poor.

We hardly gave their goalkeeper a save to make, which is not like us. Normally we’ve always got a chance of scoring but today we didn’t look like it at all.”

  1. Anthony Lopez the Lyon goalkeeper has gone off injured after 30 minutes in their Ligue 1 game away to Strasbourg.
We just need to muster a shot to bother their new keeper Pollersbeck.
Strasbourg lead 1-0 at half time.
They have only 5 players from the other night. The whole back 4 is changed. Will this make a difference.

The game finished 1-1. Lyon scored in the last minute which will put them on a high no doubt.

    Aouar went off injured too.

We’re gonna require a great performance.

    • You’re a top lad. I’ll have to wait for the full report- just checked their website but nothing up yet. Need to know if this was a weakened line up to Thursday and whether the injuries will or won’t affect the selection. Think you are right. They look very gifted technically but not a lot of penetration
