Moyes drops major team news update

David Moyes insists that both Kurt Zouma and Craig Dawson remain huge doubts for the Liverpool clash.

The France international has been dealing with an illness this week and subsequently missed the 1-1 draw with Southampton on Sunday.

We have reported that Dawson is very unlikely to reach full fitness in time for the game against the Reds and Moyes is unsure about the pair of them as the Irons prepare to go to Anfield.

He has also claimed that Maxwel Cornet is getting better but he is only closing in on a return to training, rather than a return to the starting XI.

Speaking ahead of the game with the Reds, Moyes said, as per Football.London: “Kurt has done a little bit of training, we’re not sure yet. Craig Dawson we’re unsure about. Maxi is getting closer, he’s probably going to train this week. It’s really good news he’s on his way back.”

There was better news around the fitness of Nayef Aguerd, who has yet to play in a competitive game with the Irons.

He was injured in pre-season but Moyes has now confirmed he expects him back prior to the World Cup, which begins in November.

He added: “He’s started training, he’s not fully integrated yet. He’ll definitely play before the World Cup.”
