Moyes drops Mikey bombshell

|

David Moyes has revealed that Mikey Antonio may miss the Europa Conference League clash with Anderlecht on Thursday.

The striker has somewhat struggled for form this season and has only scored twice in the Premier League.

Gianluca Scamacca has made a point by replacing him and scoring goals in his absence, as he has netted in both of the Irons’ last two games, against Anderlecht and Wolves.

Antonio has scored twice in the Europa Conference League, once in the play-offs, and once in the group stages, but Moyes has revealed that he could be out of the Anderlecht clash with a cold.

The Hammers know that a victory over the Belgian side will give them top-spot in the group and secure qualification to the last-16, effectively giving them a break from European action for a couple of months.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the clash with Anderlecht, as per the club’s official website, Moyes said: “I think most of the players are fine. Michail Antonio has a wee bit of a cold, which has kept him out of training for a day or two. So we’re a little unsure on him.

“We’ve got a couple of knocks and niggles but I think we’ll be okay.”
