Moyes drops update on permanent Lingard deal

David Moyes has confirmed that the Hammers have not even thought about buying Jesse Lingard this summer!

The on-loan Manchester United midfielder has been in the form of his life with the Irons.

He’s been so good, England boss Gareth Southgate has called him back into the England squad for the games against San Marino, Albania, and Poland.

Lingard currently has four goals and two assists to his name in six games in the Premier League and Moyes has expressed his delight at the 28-year-old finding his way into the Three Lions squad once again.

But he insists that the club have yet to discuss a permanent deal for the player, for whom the Hammers do not have a purchase option. We will have to bid like everyone else!

Speaking to reporters ahead of the Arsenal game this weekend, as quoted by Football.London, Moyes said: “Really pleased for Jesse. We want him to be positive and keep showing what he can do on the pitch.

Support for our creators, however big or small, will help us keep your Hammers content fresh, frequent and loyal to the club. £5 per month £10 per month £20 per month £50 per year

“He has been a great asset and I hope he can add a few more goals this season.

“We have not thought about a permanent deal yet. I think we will discuss that towards the end of the season.”

Lingard missed the defeat to Manchester United because he was ineligible but he’ll likely be back on the pitch this weekend against the Gunners.

He’s also very likely to end the summer window a Hammer – we are most certainly interested!

  1. Hope you are right about JL coming to WHU. Will depend other whether he wants to be a bench warmer for a richer club.
Bench warmers don’t generally get tapped for international duty.
