Moyes fumes

David Moyes was left fuming with VAR after Jarrod Bowen’s goal was ruled out against Watford.

The winger smacked a volley into the back of the net at the far post but his strike was ruled out as Tomas Soucek was adjudged to have committed a foul on Watford goalscorer Emmanuel Dennis in the build-up.

The Irons ultimately won the game 4-1, of course, but the decision was one that rankled with Moyes.

Soucek appeared to win the ball on first glance but replays showed that his boot collided with Dennis’, leading to the referee going to the VAR monitor and overturning the goal.

But the Hammers boss was disappointed that the winger did not get the goal that he so deserved; Bowen actually provided two assists and won a penalty in an electric display but the goal would have been the icing on the cake.

Speaking to reporters after the game, as per Football.London, he said: “I looked at the decisions and I would be worried if the referees go back to giving soft free-kicks like that.

“Now I have had a chance to see it I cannot believe they are giving free-kicks like that, it is such a soft free-kick to give.”
