Moyes gives hints on likely line up for Man City

West Ham look set to line up with a team which were involved last season when they take on Manchester City at the London Stadium tomorrow (Sun).

David Moyes has been explaining the position on the players he has brought to the club this summer and looks unlikely  to involve any of them in the opening game of the season.

With Nayef Aguerd injured, Gianluca Scammaca still trying to achieve peak fitness and Flynn Downes unlikely to be involved it looks odds on to be the same as before

The manager however,  appears to believe that this may be the best time to meet the title holders on a day when they may not be fully up to speed.

He explained to reporters: “There is a good chance a lot of the teams won’t be ready. I would have to say we are not ready yet. We are still trying to get a rhythm.

I think you might find a little bit of the same [with City]. The problem has been the players going away on international duty and only coming back and not having much time. You may well see one or two, I wouldn’t say strange results, but may not be quite as fluent.”

And discussing the new Hammers arrivals he added: “Flynn will take a little time to get used to us. Areo la has done fantastic for last season and we were determined to get him in the summer.

I tried to sign Nayef – his injury is a big blow –  this time last year but they would not sell him. I really like him and he will bring us new things. It will take him time to settle in as well.

Gianluca gives  us a centre forward. If you look at Liverpool and for most of last season Man City played with a false No9  it tells you there is not a lot of centre forwards out there to get when the top teams think they have better players than out and out nines.”

Likely team: Fabianski; Coufal, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell; Rice, Soucek, Lanzini; Fornals, Bowen, Antonio.

  1. If this is true our new purchase Keeper has been lied to already. Wasn’t he told he would be the number one Keeper now ?

  2. Apart from the G.K. I do agree with this team. I believe it is now Areola who should be number 1 and Fab as the cup keeper. I would though have the new guys on the bench and bring them on with 20 mins or so to go. My opinion, to get match fit you have to play matches. But understand not starting them straight away
