Moyes gives his Ajeti assessment

David Moyes has expressed a measure of disappointment over Albian Ajeti’s performance against West Brom but is apparently ready to give him further chances.
Ajeti has failed to make any sort of impression since his arrival from Basle for £8 million in the summer and apart from a couple of EFL Cup matches and a 90 minutes yesterday has been very much a squad ‘passenger.’
Moyes, put him up front yesterday but despite some frantic running around made no more impact that anyone else during a shocking team performance.
Moyes, delivering his verdict on the player – was more than a little neutral claiming that he had hoped the 22 year old would give the team a bit more.
Didn’t we all!
He added: “I think we hoped he would give us a little more in certain aspects but I don’t want to judge somebody on one sole effort.
“But he’s been here for how long now, since the summer, and I don’t know how many games he’s started. Today I felt it was fair to give him an opportunity to see if there was something there, and it was right for us, and we’ll assess it.
We’ll have a look again.”
That’s two strikers signed under different managers – Pellegrini and Moyes himself – who have looked poor in the extreme so let’s hope to God that the next few days throws something infinitely more worthwhile our way.
At this moment we have no strikers of any serious  quality other than Michail Antonio who was only ever seen earlier in the season as an emergency front man anyway.
Ajeti was seen as a better bet than Chicharito as they moved in and out at the same £8 million – we need far better.

  1. well he gave 100% more effort than haller

  2. Moyes said he wanted young players in transfer window. How about Marcos Browne of Oxford. Newcastle found him a handful yesterday. Type of player we need.
We have Ajeti. Who knows what they are doing at our club. The youngsters we have sold and loaned would have put in a better shift than the cross we watched yesterday

  3. Moyes will go back to his 8 defensive minded players for rest of season, as he does not know how to set up a team to be on front foot. His 30 plus matches in charge over 2 spells have proved this

  4. And Moyes choice in forwards was Hughill, we are bang in trouble

  5. What game was the genius tactician Moyes watching there were at least four others to name in front of Ajeti???

  6. We have players that don’t run so Moyes said if you don’t run your out. Half the team should be out than. The players should be ashamed about their attotude plus Moyes has no clue and Sullivan won’t put his hands in his pocket. 18 th richest club in the world but it don’t show on the pitch cos the money is in Sullivan’s back pocket.

  7. We play a “systemless” game …. even if you did understand it you would need a run in the team to work our patterns of play with the rest of the team …

  8. We will find out in the next 5 days exactly where the owners conviction and love of this club lies.A couple of loan signings and they basically prove to many that they do not give a damn or they spend some serious money on a couple of quality players for now and the future. Matty Cash and Sander Berge say.Sheff Utd are in for Berge now and if they get him i honestly think it could be the catalyst for some very serious unrest among the fans as we have supposedly been chasing him and a plethora of others this month with nothing coming to fruition on any of them.Yesterday showed quite clearly what is needed.

  9. Hugill, Ajeti were only bought as fourth choice back up training ground strikers. They were never meant to be first choice for the first team.

  10. The amount of money spent on this type of striker, 8 million Or so is not going to buy you a pair of boots these days. At least these are players that are happy to sit on the bench.
