Moyes gives his All-Star game take

David Moyes insists that the North/South All-Star game proposed by Chelsea owner Todd Boehly can’t possibly work, because there simply isn’t room in the fixture calendar.

Boehly, an American, has suggested the prospect of the game being played, in order to raise money for the pyramid, and potentially funnel the money into the Championship, League One, League Two, and non-league football.

However, the plan has been met with derision across the English game, particularly from Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp.

All-Star games are prevalent in American sports such as Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association but it has never caught on in football.

Moyes did not exactly deride the plan but he doesn’t see there being any room in the calendar for the game to be played, while he also wants the north/south divide to be bridged, rather than expanded.

Speaking ahead of this week’s Europa Conference League clash with Silkeborg, the Irons boss said, as per Football.London: “I just don’t know where there is any more room for any more games in football. We play a Charity Shield at the start of the season, and I believe we give all of the money to charity.

“For us to have things like a north/south divide at the moment, I don’t think we need that. I think what we are trying to do is make our country one, and at the moment, we are trying to build better roads and better rail lines between the north and south, never mind putting two teams out against each other.

Don’t expect a North v South game any time soon then.
