Moyes heading into unknown

|

David Moyes admits he knows very little about Erik Ten Hag ahead of West Ham’s clash with Manchester United.

The Hammers go to Old Trafford on Sunday looking to record their first win at the stadium in the league since 2007.

Ten Hag left Ajax to join the Red Devils in the summer and has, thus far, led them to sixth in the Premier League table.

But Moyes admits the only time he has really crossed paths with Ten Hag is when he checked in on the progress of ex-Hammer Seb Haller, who is currently battling a diagnosis of cancer after his move to Borussia Dortmund.

He told reporters: I don’t even know if I have come across him. I obviously watched Ajax when Sebastian Haller left. Knew the player. Seb has done great. By the way, I am really glad to hear that Seb is back in training at Ajax.

“We are all passing on our best wishes to him. Ten Hag got Seb scoring goals and then got him another big move so I think undoubtedly United have a good manager with good credentials and has shown it. But Manchester United is a different beast and you have to be ready for that as well.”

Moyes also believes that the United job is a huge one, having done it himself.

He added: It is bigger than what he has ever or expected. What comes with that, you have to take it and understand it. It is just such a huge commercial club as well. There are a lot of things going on. It is a really big honour to get the chance to manage Manchester United. Im sure he is grateful and thankful for the opportunity. Great club to be at.”
