Nobody has anything other than fond memories at West Ham of the best parts of David Moyes’ tenure. Taking the club to a trophy win, three years of European football and consecutive top seven finishes in the Premier League are highlights that will never be forgotten.
At the same time, Moyes last season and a half produced some of the worst football and the poorest performing side in the Premier League’s history. Many believe the Scot should have finished at the top and left a true Hammers legend. Whatever the ending, that night in Prague and the 24 hours that followed has created indelible memories for anyone associated with West Ham.
Clearly Moyes feels the same. Speaking on Match of The Day last night ahead of his Everton side’s visit to London Stadium n ext Saturday, Moyes was candid. He admitted because of divided loyalties it will be a horrible game
“It’s a horrible game because I’ve got a lot of great memories of the people there”
“I have also got close bond with the players there. We’ve done some good things over the years. It will be difficult playing against them.
“It’s a privilege to come against good lads and good staff. I look forward to seeing them.”
Kind of like meeting an ex-wife, years after all of the acrimony has died down and the divorce is just history, I’m sure West Ham fans will be happy to see him again, pleased with his success and – apart from the 90 minutes when his Everton side is competing with West Ham – wish him well.
For that 90 minutes we’d like to stick 5 past Everton and then politely applaud him off. Please.
Just saying.
You’ll be disappointed at the London Stadium – the rest of us will be watching at Goodison…
Everton visiting London Stadium next Saturday. I don’t think so
Are you even a West Ham supporter
We are away to Everton next week?
Game is away.
More utter garbage on this site… The game is at Goodison
All very good except that the game is at Goodison Park
Wee Davey did finish at the top. Twice he saw out his contract with West Ham.
Second half of last season was extremely difficult to manage. Europe Thursday, Premier League Sunday. Dave unable to offer any promises for the future to his players. Backroom staff leaving to secure jobs elsewhere.
David Moyes did very well all things considered – and never a bad word for anyone. It must have been heartbreaking to see his side being dismantled and coming to an end.
COYI
Nice to see so many comments, Martin !
Shame the game’s at Goodison then. 🤣🤣🤣
The game is at Goodison, strange article
If I met my ex wife a number of years after the divorce and she looked like David Moyes I think I would consider the divorce was the best thing that could have happened. Has anyone mentioned that it’s an away game against Everton by the way?
Sadly I remember the one at the LS was one of the worst games I have ever seen
It’s at Goodison😉🤣👍
It’s at goodison park
Great article except you don’t even know where the game is taking place! It’s Goodison Park of course!
Bit embarrassing that read considering the games at Goodison and your supposed to be a West Ham fan as well
The match is away at Goodison park!
You need to give up writing articles Martin. At this point the inaccuracies are beyond embarrassing. It takes 30 seconds to fact check where the game is next week. And if you were actually a West Ham fan, you would know without having to look it up. Just please stop
‘beyond embarrassing, eh’. Well to everyone who commented, yep, I am reassuringly human. And sometimes I do human things. Please all forgive me for my terrible sin and have a full 100% refund.
Everyone does human things but the whole basis of your story was the “emotional return.”
Don’t give up your day job. UTFT.
Yes we are all human and make mistakes. But surely before posting you do a 1 minute fact check? That’s what is embarrassing. A whole story is based on something that isn’t true
Think you will find the game is at Goodison Park!!!
If you worked at my workplace, you’d be sent for retraining. The game on Saturday is at Goodison. Also,I’ve seen you say in the past that our Conference success in 2023 was WHU’s first European trophy. Incorrect. We won the European Cup Winners Cup in 1965. Which I consider is equivalent in standard to the Europa Conference. Please do your homework.
I can’t say I blame you for getting the venue wrong. The 0-0 draw with them at home was easily forgettable.
We’re playing at Goodison park !
A good article but the obvious error is he is not coming to London stadium , we are away. These reports are going from bad to worse!!!!!!!!
We go to Everton’s ground next Saturday we should be able to beat them but they will have the fans support and we will need to silence them as they tend to will Everton on since David Moyes has taken charge he has won the players and the fans over with a full house the fans will be like a extra player against us so we will have to be on the ball to get a result but I think we will overcome and win 2-0 fingers crossed 🤞
Are we at home or away
Shame it’s at Goodison
Jesus, anymore inaccuracies in this article? The game is at Goodison Park!
And yet another sign of the mediocre world we live in….Not too concerning for those that don’t understand how important it is to be accurate but.the game is at Goodison park
It’s Everton away not at home! Check your facts first!
West Ham are away to Everton on 15th March! Any more rubbish stories on here?
You’re actually getting worse Martin
Just so you know, the game is at Goodison
The game is at Goodison Park ! Lazy lazy article.
Nice thoughts and a lovely sentiment, except for one small detail…it’s being played at Goodison Park 🤣 wishing future success to the Irons. Proper club with proper fans and definitely the club I’d support if I was a Londoner.
Have u misunderstood this article? West Ham go to Goodison next week not vice Versa as article implies?
That match id at Goodison Park
