Moyes hints transfer options are bleak

|

West Ham manager David Moyes admits West Ham’s winter transfer options are bleak with eleven days remaining in the window.

Post match at the London Stadium on Saturday the Gaffer told reporters that he did not want to bring in players that were not going to make an impact saying he doesn’t want to sign players other teams don’t want.

Moyes said “I don’t want to do is bring in players that are not going to have an impact on the team. They have to have an impact on the team now, or buying a player that will be here for the next three, four, five years, longevity and develop into a top player.  To get one who is in between that, a top player in the Premier League, is difficult. I don’t want to take players other teams don’t want.”

The manager wants to sign a right back, a midfielder and a striker but will only sign them if he thinks they can take the team forward and not just panic buy to sign anyone.

Absolutely the worst run club in the league.

that’s what happens when you go into a season with a squad that has been heavily depleted of numbers and strength outside the first 11

Sounds like they will be some ‘loan’ signings on the last day of the window….

  • James Gunn says:

Sullivan’s wet dream this, no signings and can blame it all on dithering Dave when he inevitably gets backlash from the fans

AT the beginning of Slav’s second season we signed about 10 players – in case we forget this included Nordveidt, Feghouli, Simon Zaza, Goklan Tore (sp), (?) Arbeola (right back) as well as Edi Fernandes (who to be fair is quite decent)

So there may be something in what Moyes is saying

Completely supportive of Moyes here – he inherited a thin squad but completely the right approach. We’ve got to move away from average, sticking plaster signings and only sign the right players.

I fully agree with Mr Moyes on his stance over the winter window but as the squad being so thin, why farm out some pretty good young players on loan ? When they might be needed in say the fa cup games to give some senior players a break? Or again was it about giving them more game time or getting their wages covered by the club that is loaning them? Mr Moyes must have all bases covered I guess? Keeping the faith C.O.Y.I

I agree with Moyes. So what the board actually need to do is push the boat out to sign the one or two players we need that would take us forward.

Those players can be found (maybe they don’t exist with the currently favoured agents’ player roster however so we might not know about them or be in the interest of our agents to sign them).

As an example Bruno Fernandes looks like coming to Man Utd, Erikson is likely off to Inter Milan. The trouble we have is finding these good players and being prepared to then pay the going rate when we actually need them. Good players who can contribute now AND have a decent future and aren’t large gambles all have something in common…they are not cheap. And that is the part of the circle we absolutely can’t square away!

Didn’t want Moyes back, but have too agree 100% with what he said.

Sounds logical Mr Moyes, but we need bodies that can keep us up, due to injuries. Loan signings or buys we need about three, take us forward or not, keep us up will do for now.

I have heard this bleat (anytime of the year) for more years than Sullivan, Gold and Brady have run the club.” We have never got any money”, so the players that that will take you forward will not be bought, nor will our position in the League encourage them. Always chasing the player who is in the mode of, rather than the real Star.
