Moyes hoping for good news on Bowen knock

By Simon Leyland

It never rains but it pours – part of a continuing series on our seemingly never ending list of injuries.

Just as we were basking in the warmth of a hard fought (and much needed) point. The fickle finger of fate has appeared once again, this time surrounding the fitness and possible injuries to Messrs Bowen and Ings.

West Ham went into the Newcastle game missing striker Gianluca Scamacca, defender Kurt Zouma and the Bermuda Triangle dwelling Maxwel Cornet.

It all looked promising with the speedy return of new arrival Ings after he injured his knee 20 seconds into his West Ham debut against Everton.

But when he did come on, shortly after an innocuous tackle he went down clutching his knee. The £15m West Ham signing was also then seen walking gingerly and (much like me trying to catch a bus) struggling to run for around five minutes.

Given Ings finished the Everton match despite picking up his knee injury, we can only hope that it is yet again an impact injury.

Bowen was seen limping for much of the second half and although he played on to the finish he could obviously not sprint at full speed and was almost anonymous in the last 20 minutes. Fair play to the lad, he was clearly struggling but worked hard for the team.

What with playing Chelski over the weekend, we desperately need some good news from the Physio`s room.
