Moyes insist the players “turn up” for him in crucial games

|

The London Stadium is losing as much as £20m per year

David Moyes believes the players will turn up for him against Southampton just as they did against Everton and Nottingham Forest.

The enormity of this game can’t be overstated but Moyes seems to be comfortable with the way the squad are responding to him.

Despite all the talk of problems on the training ground the manager said: “I think the players have always played [for me]. If they didn’t I would change them or do something else.

They have been really good. All the games we have had nearly have gone into the category of must win in some way. This one could be that as well.

In those games you mention (Everton and Forest)  they have stood up and been counted, scored a few goals at home.

I am hoping with the two games we have at home this week that we can start with a win and get ready to build from that.”

Well Moyes needs to turn up as well! If anyone is not performing, then he needs to be subbing and sorting to meet the needs, not the usual swap after 70 minutes then throw the last two on with two minutes to play. Let’s see him select boldly to win the game and then be canny with dynamic changes.
