Moyes insists new boy will have huge West Ham impact

David Moyes insists that Kurt Zouma will turn West Ham into challengers, as the Irons look to climb the Premier League table.

The defender made his full Premier League debut on Sunday, and turned in a mightily impressive performance against Manchester United.

The Irons may have lost the game 2-1 but the Frenchman was a constant rock at the back, winning tackles, making blocks, and winning aerial challenges.

He was perhaps fortunate not to concede a penalty in injury time as he appeared to foul Cristiano Ronaldo in the box but overall, this was a promising performance from the former Chelsea centre-back.

And Moyes believes he is exactly what the Irons need as they look to climb the league and become one of the teams at the very top end of the table.

Speaking after the devastating 2-1 defeat, Moyes told reporters, as per Football.London: “I thought Kurt Zouma was very good. We are trying to challenge the teams who are getting talked about in terms of winning the Premier League, Kurt will help us do that.”

The Hammers will get an immediate chance to take revenge on United in midweek, as the two sides will clash again in the EFL Cup.

  1. Looked like a penalty to me also but then he should have had a foul before they earned a corner that led to their first goal. It was a good solid performance. Am not sure what more we can do to get a result against Utd. Perhaps if refs start treating both teams equally?

  2. Totally agree with Moyes Zouma looks a good player. We now have a squad that showed we can compete with the big guns. The one thing that really annoys me is seeing fans digging Fornals out as the scapegoat on some other sites also Vlasic looks like he will become a good addition
