West Ham have been telling anyone who’ll listen that David Moyes is going nowhere . . . now we have the proof.
I have been saying for some time that the club should back or sack the manager. For too long it seemed as if Moyes was an isolated coach in limbo. It was evident who his transfer targets were, but the club didn’t seem to be backing him.
However the last 24 hours have unequivocally demonstrated the board are 100% behind the manager. Whilst there might be some ambiguity over who selected Edson Alvarez, there can be little doubt who chose Harry Maguire and James Ward Prowse.
Moyes will be delighted to have acquired two battle hardened England internationals. Ward Prowse and Maguire are the embodiment of ‘Moyes type’ footballers. In many respects, I believe we’re about to see the managers masterpiece. Moyes will finally be able to deploy something resembling his dream-team.
Irrespective of what myself or anyone else thinks, the Scotsman will be very confident now. He’ll be able to approach the season with his players, operating within his preferred system. I’d certainly anticipate West Ham being the most feared team in the Premier League from set-pieces.
I’ve not given up hope that the club will sign some promising young players. When Moyes first joined he spoke of building a young vibrant team. I’m sure he meant it at the time, but perhaps pragmatism has set-in?
What is undoubtedly clear is that Moyes will remain at West Ham for the foreseeable future. He has been bequeathed the Declan Rice money, and he’s spending it his way.
All we can really do now is hope that results follow.
Moyes is going nowhere but everyone else is and as always put up with it fan for 74 years.
This backing of a manager who is without any doubt the worst in tfe PL will set the club back for years. I have no sympathy for the owners or Moyes, I feel sorry for the players and fans. We will be playing championship football in the next couple of seasons..
We haven’t signed anyone yet Gonzo, Alvarez hasn’t been announced, all we have seen is an exodus of players and coaches with more wanting to leave.
If we can’t sack Moyes then the board should be handing in their cards, they are equally accountable possibly more so. A series of failed promises of next level and red bull model blah blah blah.
I do genuinely hope that there is some kind of surprise factor and we can turn the last season and a half’s form around but I am expecting the worst and a lower midtable finish again especially if Paqueta leaves, he and Rice were the bright sparks and rays of hope last season.
I can’t really disagree with anything you’ve said mate
Rice gone, Paquet on his way, over the hill Man U Centre back joining, Moyes staying. Any good new?
CHAMPIONSHIP HERE WE COME
