Moyes: It WILL turn

David Moyes insists West Ham’s form will turn around despite the third defeat in three Premier League games.

The Hammers were beaten 2-0 by Brighton on Sunday, having also lost to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest in the opening two fixtures.

It adds a certain degree of pressure to West Ham’s next fixture, against Aston Villa, given that the two games after come against Spurs and Chelsea.

Moyes insists that he is not a manager who loses three games in a row and has urged the club’s summer signings, including Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet and Thilo Kehrer, who conceded a penalty against the Seagulls, to adapt quickly if the Irons are to start putting points on the board.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the dispiriting Brighton defeat, he said: “I don’t lose three games in a row. me personally, I don’t, so I’ve got to consider that and see how and why that’s happened.

“I’ve said it in all the outlets that we are changing and that there’s a new team evolving somewhere in here.

“They’ve not been ready yet, a lot of players haven’t been ready. We’ve lost a lot of players who we thought it was time for that to change.

“We buy a centre-half at 30 million and he goes over on his ankle so small things at the moment we feel as if they haven’t quite gone for us.

“But we will keep going and it will turn but we’re going to have to keep working at it.

“We will need to be a bit tougher and more rugged than we’ve been to get ourselves back on track.”

The Irons are in a rut at the moment and have gone on a run of just two wins in 11 games, stretching back to last season.

  1. If it’s going to turn he needs to change personnel and use subs strategically in the game. Areola in goal (distribution), Ashby right back drop Coufal, Connor or Downes drop Soucek, play Benrahma in the middle, Cornet left, Bowen right, Scamacca up front. Don’t sub for the sake of it, read the ruddy game!! Options Fornals, Lanzini, Antonio Johnson. Need more skill and fluidity going forward, keep the precious ball.

  2. I’m finding it hard to focus in on what’s wrong. Up front more than the fair share of shots get saved. Others hit the woodwork or fizzle out in other ways. Meanwhile, the opposition get into a few shooting positions and they go in.

  3. I posted my comments before hammerpete6’s posting was visible. His practical suggestions make some sense. Something needs to be done fast.

  4. How can anybody namely the Manager and team even try to justify three defeats no goals
and timing of subs and team selection.Pre season a joke lack of new players in early.
I am a fan for over 73 years with numerous disabilities I drive with my Daughter for ten miles
then a train for fifty miles then the walk to the stadium then the turnstiles not taking our tickets on the smartphone, two stewards on the inside only came to our help after abuse from helpful fans.I looking around at our wonderful fans and so many children with their parents in
new kits and very excited and looking forward to the game.
So to watch a game with virtually no effort from the players was unforgivable and the Manager has clearly lost the plot and he seems to have lost the dressing room, what is going on with Soucek he has to be dropped.
Sorry for the lengthy rant at least we can trust the fans.
