Moyes keeps faith with his big summer buy

By Hughie Southon

Gianluca Scamacca’s lack of goal scoring impact has been a real problem as w have been strugling to get results.

And it has clearly been a worry to the manager but he is convinced that the Italian front man can have a big effect over the last lap of the season.

Speaking to reporters Moyes declared: ” I think to bring any player into the Premier League can take time, I look at some very big players going to other clubs and I don’t think they’ve had a big impact.

They’ll take time to settle as well. You can bring someone from the Championship who might come in and do really well right away. You can bring a top international in and think he’s not started so well.

I think you need to give people a bit of time in the league and I think the level and the intensity can catch people out.

Of course he can have a real impact for us over the last games if we can get him back to the level he was at in the first couple of months of the season.

We were still trying to get him up to speed but he was still having an impact with his goals. I think between now and the end of the season we’re going to see a lot more of Gianluca.”
