Moyes know what Irons need to become a club of “stature”

David Moyes knows what he has to do to ensure that  West Ham becomes a club of real stature.

For the first time in many seasons the publicity this club is receiving is entirely positive and now we need to go to the next stage.

Moyes understands that the international break has made his point for him and believes that by producing more players onto that stage we will be seen as the club of the stature he envisages

And it’s entirely fitting that one of our own in Declan Rice is demonstrating how a club’s reputation can reach the heights when players perform to the level required by their countries.

All the talk this week has been about the skipper, loanee Jesse Lingard’s recall  and two members of the Hammers Czech squad – Tomas and Vladi.

Moyes wants more of the same as our reputation starts to blossom with the high level performances these guys are putting in.

Commenting at www.whufc.com he said: “I’d like to have more international players and having that tends to give you stature.

I think we’re one of the clubs with the least amount of international players, so we have to try to add to the group of players we’ve got, but the players we’ve already got are doing very well.

Declan Rice has been improving no end and he’s been getting better. He’s a massive player for us and he drives us on.

He’s getting better in many ways – his understanding of the game, his leadership and his professionalism – and that’s what happens when young players come in and they step up.

He’s now training with the best in the country and he’s working alongside them and it shows him the level he needs to get to.

I have to say Declan is stepping up and joining them now. We always felt he could do it and hopefully he continues to do so.”
