David Moyes has a fascinating selection decision to make once we head into the game against Manchester City at the end of the international break.
The new man from Ajax was determined to ensure that before he joined the presence of Lucas Paqueta in the side would not unduly affect his own game time.
Steidten reportedly told the attacking midfielder that that wasn’t going to be a problem as they were wanted in the same team.
It’s now a case, with the club having so many midfielders available, as to how the manager is going to make that happen and it would perhaps appear that said Said Benrahma may be the one to suffer.
Despite some dazzling runs there has been little end product from him and that might seem the way for the manager to go in the key London Stadium game.
From all we have been told Kudus not only produces dazzling runs but goals – 18 last season so Said has serious competition maybe.
Here’s how I hope we line up for that key home match: Areola, Coufal, Zouma, Aguerd, Emerson, Paqueta, Alvaraz, Kudus, Ward-Prowse, Bowen, Antonio.
For the reasons mentioned I am not a big fan of Benrahma. Does do lovely runs and footwork but final ball is lacking more often than not. My choice of team would be the players mentioned in a 4-3-1-2 formation
Areola
Coufal. Zouma. Aguerd. Emerson
J.W.P. Alvarez. Paqueta
Kudus
Bowen. Antonio
I agree Hugh fantastic line up and I hope we see it. I really hope Moyes can let it go where Soucek is concerned, certainly as a starter. Benny needs to practise every day a little run and an end product that either finds a teammate or hits the target. High and wide has been his trade mark too often. But Alvarez, Ward-Price, Paqueta and Kudus is mouth wateringly good!!
