Moyes lays down top four gauntlet

David Moyes insists that the Hammers have to keep pushing to match Chelsea ahead of this weekend’s London derby.

The two sides clash on Saturday afternoon, with the game being the early kick-off of the weekend.

Chelsea are in incredible form, of course, and are currently one point clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of this weekend’s fixtures.

They have lost just once this season in the top-flight, to Manchester City, although they did somewhat struggle in midweek, against Watford, as they only just recorded a 2-1 victory.

Moyes has insisted that the Hammers are still striving to reach the level of the Blues consistently and he hopes that a win this weekend will give the Irons the boost required to push on for a top-four finish.

Last season, the Irons finished two points behind the Blues, who ended the campaign in fourth.

Speaking ahead of this weekend’s game, he told Football.London: “To finish two points behind Chelsea in the league, the challenge is to get the extra two points this season. We want to challenge the teams in the top four.

“This time last year we were a bit down the league and we picked up in the second half. we have made a good start and are trying to hang in there and have a good go at it at the end of the season.”
