Moyes looking to hit target ASAP

David Moyes admitted he was still aiming at 40 points after the Hammers took their tally to 35 with the point against Stoke.

And he claimed we were the better team throughout the 90 minutes tonight saying: “We certainly didn’t deserve to lose. If we did, the football gods really would be against us.

We bossed the majority of the game. In the main, we played well and were on top when they got their goal.

It was the game when we needed Marko Arnautovic to make a difference with the ball, unfortunately he didn’t get that opportunity.

I’m pleased we have got people off the bench who can make a difference – we’ve not always had the depth this season. I thought Javier Hernandez and Manuel Lanzini helped, all the players have played well.

Joe Hart faced a few similar shots in first half he gathered them easily, so it unfortunate that one bounced up and caught him out. Up until then we hadn’t been threatened a whole lot.

I think the ref the decisions right from what I have heard. I shows the level of pressure we put on. There were a lot of good things about about our performance.

“You always think 40 points is safe. A lot of clubs look like they will not able to get that, hopefully we do as soon as we can.”

  1. Dithering Dave made his substitutions 10 minutes too late…. had he done so we would have won

  2. If we had a top class free kick specialist we would already have an extra six points this season. They were just giving free kicks away on the edge of the box and getting away with it. So many this season which have just hit the wall.

For Sunday it might be worth giving AC a bit longer, even starting with him. He caused them a lot of problems two years ago.We are hardly going to outplay the Gooners but as the saying goes ‘they don’t like it up ’em’!! I am hoping they will be focused on their mid week game so. Trouble is they have Aubameyang cup tied, so he will play. But surely won’t play full strength side.

  3. Moyes was brought in to do a job ie keep us in the premiership and reminds of Big Sam in the pragmatic, get the job done manner.Ok the 3 players he introduced made a difference when most needed, but to have that fire power on tap and wait so long says a lot about the man.I said beforehand a draw for us would be good and put a nail in Stokes coffin and so it turned out. This season is all about survival after so much turmoil on and off the pitch.Honestly think that Carroll goal is priceless for us cos defeat tonight could have really turned everything on its head.7 points above both Stoke and Soton is enough i feel.If either makes it out i think it could be Brighton who drop as they have a nightmare last 4 matches.Think Murrays miss at Palace in last minute and Carrolls goal.Thats how fine the margins are between relegation and survival.coyi.

  4. Once again too late to moan but when will moyes learn to be a bit more forward looking leaving chich on bench really? Needed three points thanks to Carroll not my biggest fan to be fair and should have sealed this game really taking off noble who was poor again and getting chich or Carroll on earlier. Must say if we can get 25mill for cresswell in summer great business not only can’t defend but now can’t put in decent crosses either. Dirty side like stoke I really hope they go down don’t want any of thier players either much better around but if we can get rid of Hart surely his last time to spill balls and give away points this season and maybe a cheeky bid for butland as he won’t stay with that dirty mob we might get a decent keeper at last.

  5. Thought Noble had a good game myself, but if you’re only watching and waiting to pounce on every mistake he makes you will always get a distorted picture.
