I’ve been running forums long enough to know that there are many who would be far better managers of West Ham United than David Moyes!!
There are even those who reckons he prefer to believe he tells porkies in order to protected the board of directors they loathe.
That of course is an insult to a man who has been in the game long enough to be believed when results under his management have been beyond anything we could have imagined.
He made it clear he wouldn’t buy a striker because people wanted him to – he’s been there with Jordan Hugill.
So instead he brought in Jesse Lingard on loan, told us he could play anywhere across the front line, plunged him into the team after a handful of days at the club and watched him score two goals on debut.
Soucek inevitably got the other on a night when we needed to bounce back from a horrible defeat by Liverpool for which Moyes in part was of course blamed by some.
Tonight West Ham were immense – a team truly on its way possibly to something very special. From front to back there wasn’t a bad performance to be seen.
That’s fifth place and seven wins from the last eight. Perhaps the marginalised moaning can now stop whilst we all enjoy a season beyond any of our wildest dreams.
We have a manager and squad to die for and it will only get better and better as he hangs onto and adds to money he intends to will use for the players HE really wants.
If things were still as they were before his arrival, with others being considered as being in charge of football affairs, we surely wouldn’t be where we are now.
Let’s give the man total credit for what’s going on …let’s ensure we see him as an honest operator and let’s start getting over the past and start looking to what is surely a far brighter future.

I think it is clear that Moyes has wrested full control of both the team AND recruitment. We are now reaping the benefits and mercifully free from the scattergun approach to buying that has plagued us for years.
I have seen all our managers from Ron Greenwood to the present day and rate Moyes the best since John Lyall, who assembled that wonderful 85/86 side that finished third in the old First Division.
In short, David Moyes has forgotten more about football and football management than any of the groaners will ever know.
Completely agree. However, everyone has an off day (like the Liverpool match) and we should not overlook those, even if, for the most part, he is doing an excellent job. No harm in expressing disappointment on those days, but it has to be measured. All praise today though!
Well said Hugh and you are more than entitled to your ‘rant’ on your site! Many of us, like you, love the club, its history, its ethos. We also want to enjoy the present. For years I tried to antagonise my scouse buddy, but he always replied, “In Houlier we trust”. I totally get that now, as whoever he picks, and in whatever formation, Sir Moyes is right. Roll on Saturday !

Whole team due to Moyes telling them obviously to sit back and try and hit on break also crazy after first half and showing he had no plan b as usual. Sure his done well credit where due but also not the perfect coach by far as those tactics showed against a team beaten by Burnley and Brighton ffs.COYI

UNBELIEVABLE……. (great minds and all that)….. I was going to post a request to you Hugh for a post on this very subject matter, as I am (surprisingly) still shocked by some of the nonsense levelled at Moyes by the remaining “marginalised” few.
I have been VERY critical of the board in the very recent past and have posted enough corrosive comments about them. But why some still try to weave nonsense story’s about collusion between Moyes and the board to the detriment of the team is truly beyond me and any logical reasoning. Moyes is a man of principle, honest, diligent and hardworking and as you quite rightly pointed out, the Hugill saga that I believe Moyes has never forgotten and will never repeat.
Moyes has more than earned my trust and respect and I have absolutely no trouble understanding anything he has to say on any of the subjects to do with this club from the direction that we are headed in under his stewardship, to player appraisal and transfer target direction. In fact, I understand more of what he has to say than many a manager over many a year at this club.
Moyes is a VERY rare manager these days and in my opinion, he’s the manger that is capable of leaving a legacy at this club….or as I like to say…the New West Ham Way.
Let us all enjoy this very rare period in our history and trust the man at the helm.

I will put my hand up and say that at times I have been bemused by Moyes tactics ie v Brighton the times when he played Masuaka as a defender (never will be) but at the end of the day we are in our best position for many years, log position, team spirit, ie no prima Donna’s.. I’m sure there will be a couple of blips in the future, but as stated as much as we would love to win all our games this is not going to happen… Just wondering how and why the team were so “timid”, leggy and indeed looked in awe of a Liverpool side who in my opinion were there for the taking ie Burnley and Brighton. Last night we looked revitalised after a shorter break in the lead up to last night’s match.. .. Onwards and upwards… COYI.
If moaning was a national sport, England would bring home the World Cup regularly.

Here here! Well said Hugh. I’ve just posted a comment saying the same on the Moyes rating article. I’ve been reading some of the comments on a few of the articles about the transfer window and Moyes decision not to sign a striker and I just couldn’t believe the negativity. We were fifth in the league and finally have a manger who knows exactly what he is doing and more importantly, will steer the club in the right direction and will put the board in their place. This is your site Hugh and I for one think you are now well within your rights to start banning some of the moaners. They do not deserve the audience that this site gives them. We’re al for reasoned debate and differing opinions but many of these individuals go too far and are totally deluded with completely irrational arguments. They are a cancer to the club, fan base and this site
I have been patient because it’s in my nature. Yes I get annoyed not because I’m a supporter of the board or anything like it. I am a supporter of this football club and I am sick of people trying to destablise one of the greatest loves of my life. I hear what you say JK
I can only speak personally hugh ,but moaning was aimed towards not replacing haller me included, not what job Moyes was doing or how well the season is going …I’m absolutely loving Moyes and the season we are having ….again the moaning was about having 1 striker ….but tgats just me personally…coyi
Hi Hugh I’ve followed David Moyes for over 30 + years and am now a fully fledged West Ham fan.
I cannot believe how some West Ham fans react to David and his team and find it very depressing to hear their views sometimes.
What planet are these people on ?
David Moyes is one of the most caring managers. You are so lucky to have him at Weat Ham.
He works so hard and totally respects what the club and fans require. He will be very shrewd in the way he runs the club and will never be bullied into making rash decisions that cost fortunes and ruins clubs like other managers do.
David builds clubs from the bottom up. He tries not to waste money and always understands that whatever decision he takes he makes that decision as if he was spending his own money.
So please ALL West Ham fans stop moaning and be grateful you are very lucky to have dropped on a great manager
