Moyes may “upset a few” to reach his destination

smiling moyesDavid Moyes has done due diligence on West Ham and has come to the conclusion the club is not in a relegation fight.

Commenting on the job in front of him he declared: “The due diligence I’ve done here is the knowledge that I’m here for a short period to do the job quickly.

We will only have one transfer window, which is in a month. If there’s anything I need I will need to see it quickly. It maybe needs a tweak here and there.”

Then asked whether West Ham are in a relegation fight he said:“No, not at all. It’s not totally easy to identify the XI, but we’re talking about a strong squad here.”

I think I want to be more aggressive now. When I was younger it was: ‘This is how it is, take it or leave it.’

As you get older you mellow in different ways. Probably in this job, I am going back to being David Moyes at Preston when players were probably crying at the work, or at Everton in the early days as well.

If the players were maybe thinking the work had not been hard enough or they maybe had not done enough, I hope they won’t cry if we work them harder. I don’t want them to say: ‘This is too much.’ Responsibility has to be taken by the players.”

I am in a bit of a rush and I will say: ‘If you don’t like it, sorry. We might need to upset a few to get where we need to go.”

  1. Culture shock for a few players me thinks!!

  2. Certainly what the pamperd little darlings need, a savage kick up ar$e

    • Hope you weren’t referring to our ‘6 foot something’ snake charmer, AC?
But it may be hard, since Andy does enjoy his creature comforts, eh?
I hope Sakho is given a decent go-bloody well deserves it!

  3. Him & that lazy uninterested so called marquee signing would be top of my list.

  4. Hopefully we’ll see a General all round improvement and there’ll be no need to criticize individual players . The system and lack of vision has made some players look bad and become over critiziced . Good players don’t become poor players overnight . It’s takes time to do that . 18months of it .

  5. Let’s hope he does because they’ve upset me on a weekly basis having weighed out for my season ticket to then watch the likes of AC and co run around like a bunch of lazy over paid tarts.

I hope he does ruffle feathers and upset the apple cart because the only reason that’ll happen is if they don’t want to work hard or follow instruction and if they ain’t prepared to do those basic things they need to get out of WHUFC.

  6. It all sounds good in theory I am looking forward to seeing it in practice, he said the players all look fit from what he has seen so far which is curious but maybe a good thing, they might just have been sloppy in getting back into positions which will mean he has a good head start either that or Moyes definition of fit is old school, we need them to be able to make multiple sprints per game, Watford we know will be well organised and Moyes will not have managed against a Silva team before but then again Silva won’t know what to expect from us so that might work in our favour COYI !!!

  7. Let’s get this right!!!…. Moyes has not been made the Manager to make friends, let’s hope he can can get this rag tag group of over paid super star’s into something that looks like a team.
    ……COYI !!!…..

  8. The proof of the pudding will be in the eating. Let’s see if he can sort out the Billy Bonds from the Marco Bugers, the Trevor Brooking’s from the Dimitri Payett’s and work with what we are left with. I fancy pro’s like Zabaletta will thrive. Let’s see who else is made of the right stuff… then get the weeds out of the garden.

  9. Sakho deserves a go, really? We are talking about the same Sakho who tried to manage his own summer move and who said he wants out in January? Great player, shocking attitude.

  10. I rather like the way David Moyes has started. He looks refreshed, he looks positive, he is saying all the right things about the squad and what they need to do. He is smiling and looks to be enjoying life – something I don’t think anyone ever saw at Sunderland or Man Utd. He comes across as a hard task master and an organiser – which is precisely what is needed, and he has had the freedom to sort his back room staff out – for example I don’t think Irvine was with him at Sunderland and this I am sure will have contributed to the issues and difficulties he had there. All in all he seems to have hit the ground running, its still too early to tell but this week has seen a move from the club in the right direction. Jury out but being swayed – Watford result will start to see if progress is being made.

  11. He could start by insisting that Hernandez and Arnautovic stop flouncing around throwing their hands in the air if they are tackled or a pass doesn’t come to them perfectly!

A right pair of prima donnas who need to get their attitudes straightened out!
