Moyes mind looks made up on striker target

By Hughie Southon

Chelsea’s Armando Broja appears to have truly emerged as David Moyes’ number one striker target.

Having successfully negotiated with the club for the Kurt Zouma – seemingly against all odds – the club may well feel confident they can pull off another deal with the Blues.

And maybe the silence we met when making inquiries of our top sources last night demonstrates – as we have often found in the past – that silence can very often speak louder than words.

Nobody was prepared to deny the story which emerged late yesterday and the £30 million being quoted sounds right,

We were simply told: “No comment, but be assured we are very much aware of the speculation concerning the player.”

One front man the club is unlikely to pursue in the new  circumstances is Sevilla’s Youssef En-Nesyri for whom reportedly we had  a £27 million bid turned down in January.

Since then the player has suffered a downturn in form and Moyes is more interested in the highly athletic Chelsea front man.

  1. Would absolutely LOVE to see Armando join the club – he’s an Antonio type of player – big, athletic and combative. Make it happen, boys. Then focus on JWP and Raphina! 🙂

  2. Definitely a big fan of Broja if we can negotiate the deal he has a lot of potential and is the right type of player for Moyes, I could see him becoming the new Arnautovic, imho we should also sign En Nesri the two of them would be a potent strike force as they are different kinds of threat, En Nesri is much cleverer with his movement than Broja and although he had a downturn in form last season he continued to be in the right places.

  3. Yes from what I’ve seen of him, admittedly only on TV, he looks spot on for the lone striker style that DM favours. Personally would love to see him plus Dennis and Sarr, lots of options . Worried about the cost of J W-P but that’s up to the board . For me, the above plus a left back would represent good business at the right age, and may encourage internal development to supplement it

    • Sounds good to me Hammerpete, but I’d like to see Longelo given a try at L-B first, especially if Aguerd can play L-B as well. Let ‘s not write off Cresswell at L-B or Ogbonna at C-B either – if he hadn’t been injured we would have finished top 5 in my opinion. It’s looking positive to me, so far. COYI
