Moyes misses out again

David Moyes has missed out on manager of the month again as Nuno received his fourth manager of the month award and his first since he took charge of Spurs in the summer.  The Portuguese man has enjoyed a good start to his tenure in North London, winning all of his first three games in charge as Spurs went into the international break top of the table.

Moyes had been shortlisted for the Premier League’s Manager of the Month award for August.

Moyes led the Hammers to seven points from their opening three Premier League games of the season, leading to his nomination for the first month of the campaign. West Ham began the 2021/22 season in scintillating form, twice coming from behind to defeat Newcastle United 4-2 in a thrilling curtain-raiser at St James’ Park.

The Hammers then followed that up with another four-goal display, this time against Leicester City, as two Michail Antonio goals, plus strikes from Pablo Fornals and Saīd Benrahma saw them romp to a 4-1 win – a result which took them to the top of the table.

Saturday’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace ensured the Irons would end the season’s first month undefeated, continuing the momentum they built throughout 2020/21. Moyes has won ten Premier League Manager of the Month awards during his successful career, ranking him third behind only Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsène Wenger.
