Moyes move for central defender snubbed

|

David Moyes’ first attempt to solve his central defensive issues have reportedly been snubbed after he made a loan bid for Everton’s Michael Keane.

It seems that Toffees boss has similar problems in the back line to the Hammers and is unready to let the 12 times capped  international defender out.

We reported recently that the manager had been forced to change his approach to this summer market given our difficulties at central defence and it appears that he has gone to his former club as he attempts to solve the issue.

But the Toffees are also facing a centre-back injury crisis, with Ben Godfrey expected to be out for around three months after fracturing his right leg in their opening day loss to Chelsea.

Everton have reportedly shut down West Ham's attempts to take Michael Keane on loan

Yerry Mina is also set for a spell on the sidelines as he suffered an ankle ligament injury against the Blues.

Conor Coady has arrived on loan from Wolves to ease Frank Lampard’s worries, but his only other centre-backs are Keane, James Tarkowski and Mason Holgate.

‘When it rains, it pours,‘ Lampard said when asked about the injuries in his backline.

It is the second time in the space of a week that Everton have dealt West Ham a blow in the transfer market after they beat the east London side to the signing of Amadou Onana.

The highly-rated Belgian midfielder, 20, was poised join the Hammers until Everton stepped in to match their offer of £34million and he then agreed a five-year contract at Goodison Park.

David Moyes has also made an offer of around £10million for Paris Saint-Germain defender Thilo Kehrer, but faces competition from Sevilla.

Michael Keane? Quite possibly the worst CB in the league. Clanger after clanger last season. Is this really how low we’ve sunk?!

I guess nobody is going to loan or sell us their decent centre backs, because they need them too…

Everton seem to know what they are doing, having recruited Tarkowski and Coady and with Keane they are covered awaiting other injury recoveries. Why sell to us? Let’s move on.

All of this has a very familiar smell . Window after window ,failure after failure and we are no further forward . Yes we have a striker but we are selling Benny ? yes we have a centre back but have let 2 go and he is injured.. two full backs out none in ,3 of our best youngsters are gone …. 3 goalkeepers in squad . At least the 12 disciples will get a mid season break if World Cup goes ahead !! I am very concerned about this coming season . . We are nailed on bottom 6 unless something dramatic happens .in next two weeks .
