Moyes muses ‘Ben’ or ‘Bal’ option

David Moyes has two options this afternoon and one of them – Said Benrahma as a starter – has been regularly discussed this week.

But it’s as well to remember that the boss may well decide to go another way and play three at the back by drafting in Fabian Balbuena.

The Paraguayan probably has just a handful of games left as a Hammer given the noises coming from his representatives about moving on at the end of the season.

And with Chelsea strong up front, it wouldn’t come as a great surprise to anyone were the boss to opt for the central 29 year old at the heart of defence.

He has done well when called upon this season and was again in decent form in the appearance against Newcastle last weekend.

With Craig Dawson unavailable, Oggy and Diop are set to continue but it would come as no surprise were the manager to go with Balbuena which would be hard on Benrahma.

This is a game that really does need to see the team go for it and the former Brentford star needs his chance.

The boss only hinted at his presser that Aaron Cresswell may make it but we aren’t expecting to see him given pulled hamstrings usually take a fortnight to clear up.

  1. I think Balbuena’s still 29 – I hope he stays with us next season and that both he and Benramha start today:

    Fabianski
    Coufal Diop Balbuena Ogbonna Johnson
    Soucek Fornals
    Lingard Bowen Benrahma

    COYI

  2. No need to choose between these two . The choice should be Noble or Bananarama We are going to be overrun in midfield if Noble plays as Mount / Pulisic /Zytech will blow him away . We should try to keep them busy worrying about our team attacking if we are to stand any chance … COYI

  3. How many more chances do we give Benrahma? He hasn’t scored yet, what makes us think he’ll break his duck against Former European Super League team Chelski? I’d put Lanzini back in the team before Benni. COYI ⚒⚒
