Moyes on a new Ogbonna contract

Angelo Ogbonna’s improving form has drawn suggestions that even at going on 35 he could be offered a new contract at the club in the summer.

Oggy has looked in fine form over recent games and his performances have been seriously required given the problems with injury problems at central defence.

But asked by reporters if he was likely to be offered a new deal manager David Moyes responded: “We’ve not gone into the new contracts yet.

“It’s good to see Angelo back playing well. Coming back from a cruciate at 34 and getting back into form, it’s taken him a while.

We hoped to get him back at the start of the season but  it’s taken a bit longer and he’s had to wait a bit to get an opening.

He probably needed the European games, the pre-season and, in truth, the winter break games if I’m being honest.

I’m pleased he’s done a really good job, he’s been a really good servant, but the truth is we’ve not got round to discussing any contracts at the moment.”
