Rice: A truly great defensive midfielder

David Moyes goes into the match against Manchester City more in hope than optimism by the sound of things.

Understandable. but with City able to drag players away from the places they want to be it’s a match which all honesty to fear.

Declan Rice is a truly great defensive midfielder but it’s more than possible that he will have to be in four places at once at times on Wednesday evening.

Responding to reporters Moyes made the position clear and spoke of his hopes for the game at the Etihad.

He told reporters: “It’s very hard because they’ve got the ability to make you not be in the position you want to be. They’re so good.

I watched them on Sunday. But hey, that happens. We see games in cups not always won. So we’ve got to go into it with a hope and an idea that we can get a result. “
