David Moyes has expressed his deep disappointment at losing Gianluca Scamacca.
It seemed on the cards for several weeks but the manager discussed the situation for the first time at his press conference ahead of the Bournemouth game.
And he was clearly upset that he had lost a player he had a lot of time for but that the striker had found it hard to settle in the country.
Scamacca spent a lot of last season injured but Moyes had seen enough to realise that her was a top frontman having bought him from Sassuolo last summer,
Despite making a loss on him the manager made his disappointment very clear claiming that he had a lot of time for him and obviously wanting him to stay at the club.
He told the media at the presser: “I was really disappointed that it didn’t work out with Gianluca Scamacca, because I like him a lot.
But Gianluca didn’t want to be in England and we found it very difficult. He had his rehab from his injury back in Italy and wouldn’t participate with us here so we found it very hard.
We like him a lot, he’s a really good boy and it’s just a pity it didn’t work out for us.
It might be that we look to strengthen the forward area, but we’ve got other areas we might want to strengthen as well, so not just that one.
Commenting on the situation with Lucas Paquetá the manager said that all he could say was there has been an offer from Manchester City but that it is not close enough to the Hammers valuation so at the moment there was no decision to make.”
Spot on.
Just proves the guy didn’t want to be here so nothing to do with how we play plus Moyes. The fact he refused to have his injurt treated and rehabilitated in this country says it all. I blame his agent who picked up a hefty wedge for pushing him here. In fact agents are unwelcome parasites on the game and in my view a lot of them reason why transfers often take ages!
