Moyes on the last 16 game he REALLY wanted

David Moyes knows exactly how tough it will be going to Sevilla for a European Trophy last 16 clash .

But he will be happy to get to know the stadium before returning for the Final!

It was almost written in the stars that once the Spaniards came out of the pot the Hammers were set to meet them – I felt it in my water and found myself murmuring “please no.”

But as Declan Rice commented you have to beat the best and a final beckons after we have done so although with no Angelo Ogbonna or possibly Vladi Coufal this may be as hard as it could get for the Hammers at this level of the game.

Fingers firmly crossed that Michail Antonio and Tomas Soucek can recover their form and that Jarrod Bowen can remain at the top of his.

Discussing the game Moyes made it clear that it hadn’t been at the top of his favoured list saying: “I think Sevilla have unbelievable history in winning the competition and I know their manager Julen [Lopetegui] and going to Sevilla is a big job.

After Real Madrid, they’re probably the in-form team in Spain at the moment so it’ll be a really tough game, but I wanted a big game and I want the big teams and I want us to challenge them and really go for it, so Sevilla is a really tough game.

It would be good to go there twice for the final, so it would be good to get used to the stadium, wouldn’t it!

I did hope we might draw Rangers [in my home city of Glasgow] as I was looking forward to maybe having a game against them, which would be a really tough game.

Rangers have done brilliantly well to overcome Dortmund as they were one of the only Champions League teams actually knocked out in the knockout play-off round, so great credit to Rangers for getting through.
