We missed it by 24 hours but it would be entirely wrong not to remember David Moyes’ one year anniversary as Hammers boss on his second coming.
He took over a year ago yesterday and it bears repeating that we are all greatly indebted to the fella .
He has saved us twice now – once during a desperate period when protests were at their peak – and then whilst looking near odds on for relegation whilst playing some very nice football.
We sit in 10th place and played some magnificent stuff during the early part o the campaign against some very tough sides.
The loss of Mikey Antonio has been a problem of course but despite that the team has continued to dig out good results in the main.
Every manager will always have his critics and that often spills over into serious ill which is always entirely unnecessary.
So at the end of this 12 months it would be entirely wrong not to say: Well done Moysie and thanks for some much needed stability.

Ever since he left Everton David Moyes has seemingly had to try and clear up someone else’s mess. I’d love to see what he can do if he’s given time to build and shape his own team. So far so good. Gaun Mousie!
Moysie, even!!
Absolutely spot on Hugh – the luxury of looking down at half of the Premier League is great.
DM has steadied the ship and got us into the habit of not losing games we would have lost in previous seasons. More power to his elbow.
Nice post Hugh and well done to Moysie and his team – avoiding relegation last season was massive – and this season he has improved us greatly – long may it continue
Ditto your comments Hugh. Thank you David Moyes & staff for all that you’ve done and achieved so far. And thank you for agreeing to come back after you were so shabbily treated first time round.
Agree totally. Solid management style coupled with ambition to rid us of the flaky image.
We started 2020 fearing relegation and end it 10th in the Premier League. That is progress. Need to build on it now and kick on to be a regular top 10 PL side like Everton
I couldn’t agree more Hugh. He has brought order and stability to the team and much better discipline,, with a shape and grittiness that makes us much less easy to play against. The recent signings have been good value for money unlike many under Pellegrini. He is aware where the team needs extra cover I am sure and is having to operate with severe financial constraints due to loss of income for the club this year. I was pretty disgusted that he was fobbed off after his first tenure and he deserves credit for coming back and proving the critics wrong
Well said, Hughie. Thanks David and and all of his team.
Especially this season after losing at home to Newcastle on the first game. An inspection of the fixtures and opponents thereafter filled me with the dread that we would not get any points until November. Bottom of the PL with no points and ‘the club in crisis’. The truth turned out to be performances above expectations and usual predictable results and excuses vanished. Great work by all and thanks for the spiritual uplift especially during these times. Life is worth living after all!!
Happy New Year to C&H and all West Ham United followers.
