Moyes plays down Messi signing

|

West Ham manager David Moyes showed there can still be light-hearted moments in yesterday’s pre-match press conference at Rush Green ahead of the Hammers away game against Manchester City on Sunday.

Asked about the possibility of Lionel Messi coming to the Premier League Moyes joked

“I thought you were going to link me with him”

The reporter quickly fired back “Would you like Lionel Messi at West Ham?”

The West Ham manager joked “Well I am not sure,  I would have to think about it for a few days before I made my decision”

Adding “I think if we can get Messi to come over to this country then it would be incredible. The era of football we are in with Messi and Ronaldo, two unbelievable footballers, we have missed one of them in the Premier League but I hope, maybe, it will happen. I was fortunate to come up against him in Spain a couple of times and I can tell you, he is even better close up”
