The Moyes verdict

David Moyes heaped praise on his Hammers squad tonight post-match singling out Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen.

The 58-year-old West Ham manager told reporters at Villa Park “The players are doing a great job for me and I am thrilled by it. Week in week out they turn up and in the main we are doing good things. Overall all the squad whether in the cup, Europe or league all the players are contributing.

On Jarrod Bowen’s two goals he said “He is capable and has the knack of scoring. Today was good we spread the goals around. Jarrod has been threatening to get a goal and getting closer and closer. He just slipped off after starting the season really well but I am very pleased with him today and the key was Lanzini making it easy for him today”

Commenting on his skipper Declan Rice who got his first Premier League goal of the season plus an assist Moyes added “He is at a really good level for someone so young. He carries a big responsibility and I hope he continues in that vein. We are really pleased for him.”

The manager wants to keep up the momentum West Ham are currently enjoying telling the media “We are trying to keep doing the right things and I will continue to drive the players on”

  1. Fornals was lucky not to see red. It was a blatant headbutt to Hause’s elbow! 😲
