Moyes ‘problem’ demands a different answer

David Moyes will face the same issue as he did at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon by the looks of things.

Moyes appeared to confirm the ClaretandHugh report that Pablo Fornals has a groin issue and does not appear convinced that he would be available for the Arsenal game at his presser this  lunchtime.

His question is whether he again plays Mark Noble which surely has to be a big no no  and it then comes down to which of Benrahana or Lanzini he plays in his place.

Nothing other than an offensive performance will do and a very personal view, with which many will no doubt disagree, is that the boss should go for Lanzini on the strength of what we saw last weekend.

Manu looked very lively and bright causing some problems at the back for United whilst Said despite driving forward continued to frustrate.

I get the feeling that in Lingard, the Argentine may just set up a decent partnership.

But Mark, sorry this is not a game for you.

  1. Sorry disagree that Lanzini is a better fit than Benrahma, in previous games they have linked very well down together. Benny needs to calm down a little in his desperation to score his first goal which will come soon IF given a proper chance ie 90 mins.
Agree that this is not a game for Nobes to start.

  2. I am laughing at ur comment “Agree this is not a game for Noble to start” – I am assuming you have been watching the games, Noble should never start another game in the PL for us. Secondly if Moyes does not realise this soon he will lose the players. I said at time Noble should never have been awarded a new contract and also he should never have accepted the offer – his involvement is a mistake that is interfering with the team’s progress. We have nothing to lose against Arsenal, we need to be positive. I cannot watch much more of the rubbish football that Moyes is known for, assuming Fornals is not fit to start then the team has to include Benrahma, Lindgard, Bowen and Antonio.

    • What are you talking about-“the rubbish football Moyes is known for”? He’s known more for making Everton serial over performers over many years on limited resources- never in trouble, often pushing for top 6. Ok – didn’t win much silverware but not many do outside the richest clubs, mostly with wealthy individuals backing them. Crikey- some fans don’t know when they’ve got it good!

      • Moyes is a functional manager, whose first thought is always negative. He will drive all technical players out of the club, We played Spurs and we were very lucky to win and the same with Leeds. I have watched all the games and we have been more than lucky in a number of games and we have played dire football in a number of games. Yes I am delighted we are 5th but I am not enjoying the quality of football under Moyes. We have players in the squad who can make us tick but they wont get much chance under Moyes. His team selections have been questionable and he continues to pick players based on how much ground they cover not what they can do with the ball. I fear for us under Moyes.

        • You sure you’re a West Ham supporter johnham 1? We’ve enjoyed some good fortune – just as we’ve been unlucky on occasions. It happens. Sound to me as if you almost resent the fact Moyes is giving us the best season in ages. Ah well, it takes all sorts I suppose.

    • Yes I watch every game both as a ST holder and now on tv.
I was as you will have read, advocating Benrahma, but we are not spoilt for defensive midfielders, so Noble not starting doesn’t mean that he ‘might ‘ become necessary to close a game if we had injuries, hence my comments.
From a defensive point of view he has more idea of defending than Lanzini and he is a good person to have around the club even if he isn’t playing, so signing for next season paves the way for an ambassadorial/coaching role and he deserves that.

    • Of course he shouln’t . I thought you might notice irony. Obviously wasted. Your other point is just ghastly. What you recommending – a carriage clock and farewell party. Think he deserves more than that

  3. Has to be Benrhama in front of Lanzini , the guy needs his chance and his first goal as that will settle him . I really hope the guy gets his goal on Sunday , that would so lift his confidence. If he scores , we will start to see the best of him IMO .yes get the win . COYI ⚒

  4. Lanzini/ Lingard-yet to be proven. Much prefer Benrahma/ Lingard. Lanzini bench warmer on Sunday. Benrahma was at his best at Brentford as a winger cutting in and causing havoc just like Bowen on the right at his best. Not worried about getting his first goal as long as he gets 3 assists I think Moysie might let him play the full 90 minutes 🙂
