Moyes raises total defence of Hammers defender

Vladi Coufal took plenty of stick over the weekend for being turned inside out by Jermy Doku.

The Man City man of the match tore the Hammers right back and others apart at times during the match but the manager was refusing to accept that the defender had a poor match.

Doku was indeed in brilliant form and grabbed the equalise with a wonderful piece of individual skill but let’s remember that Vladi escaped his attention long enough to set Jawmes Ward-Prowse’s opener.

Moyes is very much a fan of Coufal’s because of the lad’s battling qualities and he never quit on a very difficult job or indeed needed to be subbed.

Moyes paid him a real compliment on how he hhad performed and in our opinion that was the right thing to do.

Talking immediately after the game before the general criticism started on the forum Moyes declared of Coufal: “In the main I actually thought our right-back did a brilliant job.

“Brilliant at sticking to the task you know trying to deal with it the best he possibly could.

“And he just got done on one occasion really which was the one that really mattered.”

I thought he had a pretty decent game bit harsh to be critical given the opposition , he’s not going to be the only fullback turned inside out by doku this season.was much more effective going forward . Until we have better competition in both fullback positions, can’t expect much more.
