Moyes rating v Leicester

He was furious at the end and had every reason to be as the lads did their best  – for the third game on the trot – to give it away.

No Declan…no Mikey and yet the boss came up with a team which once again put Leicester City in their place to make it six goals against them this season.

In reality he had few options but to play the team he did and like the rest of will be particularly pleased to get Angelo Ogbonna back because as things stand we are missing a leader at the back.

Despite all that, he again saw Jesse inspire a first half attacking display which was quality individually and collectively.

He and Jarrod Bowen were both outstanding and unless injury again intervenes we have a front two  who look able to keep us going until the end of the season.

Defensively we have some worries now although the boss may see Ben Johnson as the answer for Cresswell and Oggy will make a big difference.

MOYES RATING 8

  1. 3 games ,

    3 3 goal leads .

1 cock up and 2 near cock ups.

We don’t seem to be able to just keep the ball when leading. benrhama losing the ball trying to pass forwards when there were easy options sideways.

It’s ok to pass sideways when winning 3 1 at 90 mins!

Don’t seem to have learnt this lesson. Just try and keep the ball !!

  2. Missing Ogbonna yes but you do Dawson an injustice because Dawson has been a great leader at the back for us.

  3. I thought Moyes did well today, the correct formation and selection. I was delighted to see him bring Balbuena for Cresswell, right sub but I thought Balbuena was a little off the pace. I hope Cressie will be ok but it will be great to have Ogbonna back, with a back 3 of Diop, Dawson and Oggy we should be fine. I thought the Benrahma on for Bowen a good decision too. I would have brought on Coventry and went with a natural midfielder but Johnson did ok.

  4. Might be down to the bare bones with the side picking itself from what was available. But with this team and the ethos of our teamwork, we continue to do well. Gone is the reliance on one or two players dictating our style. What are we going to do without Payet? Or Arnautovic? Or Carroll? Or Haller doing everything himself? No worries – the men we have now are all footballers keen for the team to do well. Not an accident. Good management. Good coaching. Good owners. Grant or Curbishley would have thrown in the towel long ago. Not the way of our current , magnificent crew.
