Moyes ready for Leicester City

Moyes upbeat about the return of Aguerd

David Moyes insists there is still plenty of incentive for the Hammers at Leicester City this weekend as we go into the final game of the season.

Obviously a closer to mid table finish and the positional money that goes with it will see the squad giving it their best and we would love to go into the big Final on  June 7 in Prague on a winning note.

With both Leicester and Everton involved in relegation games the Hammers need to field as strong a team as they can to keep everything within the spirit of the game.

For all that this was probably the quickest pre-match press conference of the season as Moyes addressed the issues before us on Sunday!

Admitting that everybody is ready for a break from one of the busiest seasons ever and that they are all looking forward to a bit of rest and recovery.

He said: “We’ve not been sure what to do this week without a midweek game! We’ve had a midweek game every week since March so it’s been relentless. To have a bit of down-time this week has been fabulous for everyone.”

Addressing the Leicester game he added: “I think it is tricky given their position. I’m glad we’re not in that situation, but we have to go and do our job which is to try and get another win.

We want to try and finish a bit higher up the league and prepare ourselves for the final, so we need to make sure everybody is in the right condition for that.

“We want everybody fresh but we also want them able and prepared. We don’t want the gap between the games to be too long. All those things come into our thinking but we want to keep playing well.”

He also revealed that Nayef Aguerd is available for Sunday saying: “He’s trained today. He missed out with a dead leg but he’ll be back.

“We had a couple of knocks. Emerson had a knock to his knee so I need to see how he is. Gianluca Scamacca still hasn’t recovered from his knee operation but I don’t think he’s too far away now. He had the operation about four weeks ago and I think he will be back ready for the start of pre-season.”

  1. A bit too early for Aguerd imo- rest him for Prague – it’s far more important.
