Moyes ready to cut losses on £25m Hammer

David Moyes appears to be ready to cut his losses on Nikola Vlasic and will try to recover whatever he can by offering the Hammer out permanently or on loan with an option to buy.

The Hammers paid 30m euros (£25.7m) for Vlasic plus a potential £9m euros (£7.7m) in add-ons, with the contract running until 2026.

Claret and Hugh understand that the club have sanctioned his potential sale if their summer valuation is reached which will help them avoid further investment.

West Ham are due to pay CSKA Moscow in instalments plus any add-ons but that is in some doubt over sanctions to Russian clubs .

West Ham’s obligation to pay Spartak Moscow ongoing loan fees, which includes wages for Alex Kral, is also in doubt. His loan is due to finish on June 30 and will be allowed to find himself a new club if he decides not to return to Russia.

Last month FIFA has announced a series of measures to facilitate the departure of players and coaches from Ukraine and Russia.

The world football’s governing body had already banned Russian clubs and teams from its competitions in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, although Russia has since made clear its intention to appeal such sanctions.

If we don’t have to pay CSKA that will be a result. In Vlasic defence he is being played as a winger not a 10 so it’s hard to judge him, also it was his first season back so maybe he will be better in the 2nd season if he stays but if an offer comes in it wouldn’t be disappointing to see him go as he has struggled.

On the back of his Youtube highlights I think most fans were pretty excited and would have taken the punt. Unfortunately it just isn’t working out but I’d be interested to see what he could do if he was played regularly in the middle of attack. Either way, we probably have better options than him already with Fornals and Lanzini, and we could definitely do with an out and out left sided AM or winger.
