David Moyes has made it clear that Declan Rice would have to become the most expensive English footballer in history for the Hammers to consider selling him.
Moyes made it clear when he arrived at the club for the second time that the player was worth considerably more than the £70 million price he had been reported by the media.
And that was the fee the board were THOUGHT to want as a minimum to even think about his departure. Moyes was having none of that.
He started talking in terms of “Bank of England money” and placed the £100 million fee on him for the first time – a figure he reckons will need revision should the player ever be on his way.
Moyes sees only an upward spiral in prices and Declan – who will definitely remain at West Ham this season – can be at the peak of it should he ever move on.
Jack Grealish’s move to Manchester City broke the transfer record for an English player, but Rice could command a higher fee, according to the Hammers boss.
‘I don’t see it coming down really, the next bunch of good players will probably be worth more than £100m in the future.
Jack Grealish became the most expensive English footballer of all time earlier in August when he transferred from Aston Villa to Manchester City for a whopping £100million
‘It will probably continue but maybe those clubs have realised they can only buy one big player and not add lots more after that.’
It looks like he’s here for at least one season. It might depend on how well we do THIS season tho. In 12 months time clubs should be better off than they are now. Just saw a headline about Pep challenging anyone to prove FFP rules break. Interesting to say the least.
It will probably be topped in the next couple of weeks by Harry Kane to City, Chelsea don’t need Rice, Utd, Liverpool and City though all lack that player. Well City will when Fernandinho retires in a season or so.
Music to Sullivan’s ears
So why hasn’t he been sold ?
Nobody has made a bid for him yet. Chelsea have spent their money on Lukaku and City have bought Grealish and possibly Kane.
No and it’s assumption they would sell anyway
