Moyes reckons Steidten may be struggling

Tim Steidten’s first window at the club in the summer was hailed the best in the English Premier League but David Moyes now reckons the technical director may be struggling!

Expectations were high going into the winter market but now Moyes has lifted the lid on his D-Day transfer chat with Steidten as he eyes a late West Ham deal.
And to describe the manager’s thoughts as patronising barely does justice to the word with him claiming the way windows work in this country are different to Germany.

The Scot said that Steidten is ‘maybe struggling’ with the chaotic, last-minute nature of transfer activity in England compared to the sensible, planned, organised manner Germans do their business.

He told the Evening Standard: “We had this at the start of the season (deadline day on same day as a game) as well, at Luton.

“Now we’ve had it again. Not that you want to do your business on the last day of the window, nobody wants to do that. You know how many deals get done in the last day.
I’m laughing with Tim about it. ( SERIOUSLY???? )

Tim’s German and they’ve got it all done, tools down early, all the stuff done whereas we’re last minute. He’s probably struggling to get used to our culture.
“The culture here is lots of deals at the end and the supporters hoping for a last-minute deal. Maybe this window there will be but at the moment it’s not as if it’s been a huge window for anybody.”
Claret and Hugh says: For Moyes to believe that the new technical director wouldn’t have understood how the transfer window works in this country because he’s German is an unbelievable claim. Of course he knows, we all know, and to be offered and taken a huge job and accusing him of such is an insult to him and the club that employed him. One only has to follow the news bulletins to understand the PL is different to anywhere else as the competition for players is far fiercer. I think it is reasonable to assume that Tim would understand the late rush and how tricky it would be getting players in during the winter window in particular. The man is currently being linked with a Liverpool reformation following Jurgen Klopp’s decision to quit the club and I’m really not sure these kind of remarks can help his position at the Hammers!

Calm down, Hugh. Moyes is clearly commenting on the system in England, not the capability of Steidten. Notice he states he was laughing with him, not at him. You do like to stir conflict, even if not there.
