Moyes relieved but wants more from the Irons

One by one David Moyes’ West Ham worried are being eliminated.

He admits that one of his biggest in the summer was whether there would be a dip in performances this term after last year’s magnificent campaign.

It’s a fear that would have been shared by many supporters who have seen too many of those after top performances.

But he is relieved to see that the team are performing as well as they did in 20/21 but he’s still not entirely happy.

He’s a tough operator and it’s that which has driven the Hammers to where they are following his second coming.

Talking during what will inevitably be a tough match at Turf Moor on Sunday the manager made his feelings very clear.

And it came as no surprise to hear him claiming that he wants and expects the team to be performing better than they have been over some games this season.

He said: “I was always worried after last season that we could have taken a little bit of a dip but I think, if anything, we’ve got better, we’ve improved, we’ve gone again and so we’re trying to keep those standards up.

It doesn’t mean to say we’re going to do it and get there or we’re competing for it, but the challenge is just to see if we can have another strong season.

I actually think we could have played far better than we’ve played in recent weeks, but there were possibly reasons for that.

Aand overall the players are still producing and still performing at a high level and we’ll look for that to continue for the rest of the season.”
