Moyes reluctant to pay striker price

|

David Moyes has plenty of rivals in his bid to pick up Tammy Abraham from Chelsea.

Crystal Palace are the latest club to reportedly be showing an interest in the 23 year old who is clearly totally out of favour at Stamford Bridge although that seems odd given they have no manager in the dug out at the moment.

However, even were that not the case Leicester City, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers, are all known to be keen on the striker.

Chelsea are likely to play hardball on prices as is always the case and are believed to want around £40 million for the striker.

Moyes was know to have him down as his No 1 priority signing but the manager often changes direction and won’t be ready to pay such a fee anyway.

He and the club have the front man  marked up as a £25 million player and are now also reported to be in for Burnley’s Chris Wood at around the same price.

If we are going to pay tha price Wout Weghorst and Daka are much better options, both are young and hungry and close down from the front. Wood is great at getting goals and a pest for defenders but limited, the others have a lot of potential are younger and if they take off, could make us a lot of money if we moved them on.

  • Alex says:

25 million for chris woods i hope not. Have we not learned buying players with no sell on value?

  • DJHammer says:

Please let this be a touch of smoke and mirrors whilst actual targets are being negotiated with.

Neither player represents value for money at £25m, nor has a desire to move on been expressed publicly to my knowledge.

It’s common knowledge that CFC pay their young players handsomely, should Abraham be signed on equal terms currently enjoyed, that amounts to £3m in salary per season.

  • Eastendexile says:

I think Chris Woods is a fit Andy Carroll and only fits a certain style of direct play.
I think we need more craft and skill up front so I hope this is not true

Leicester are getting Edouard, plus already have Vardy and Iheanacho. Wolves have Jimenez and Fabio Silva, and Aston Villa have Ollie Watkins. No chance he goes to any of them.

If we want him that much, we’ll get him. However, it’s down to the board to stump up the money and back their manager, which I very much doubt will happen. Feels like the 2016 window all over again.

Number 32 and Alex both put it perfectly. Does nobody ever learn . Woods is a joke eh and certainly not a young and hungry player.

Linked with hey another forward Why wood , would rather we paid an extra 5 million for Abraham if we settle between our varying valuations. I agree wood would have no sell on Value and Abraham is quicker . Why not one of the Czech youngsters Hdlozek or Sima . Silly season we must be linked with multiple strikers & we sure won’t be signing them all ⚒
