Mikey Antonio’s return to goal scoring form has been a massive boost for the West Ham squad with David Moyes declaring that as vital.
Mikey scored two fine goals on Thursday night and along with Declan Rice’s incredible goal and Lucas Paqueta’s penalty was responsible for a thumping win.
It’s great to see the No 9 making an impact at decisive time of the season and Moyes expressed his relief to reporters.
He said: “I’m more pleased that Mick’s beginning to find that goal scoring tough again because it’s vital.
Danny’s got a couple, one in Gent, Jarrod got one against Arsenal on Sunday and Mick getting back amongst the goals was huge for us. I’m really pleased for Mick. I think the biggest thing is his form is picking up as well, to go along with the goals.”
And asked if he was worried the No 9 had stayed at the club with Wolves interested in the summer, he added: “I don’t think I was necessarily worried, but it’s taken a while, let’s be fair.
We’ve given him every chance to do so. He got an injury, Gianluca got an injury and we weren’t scoring in the first half of the season. So we bought Danny Ings in as well who has been pretty consistent over the years with his goal scoring.”
Did Moyes really say Mickey was finding that goal scoring tough? Or that he was finding that goal scoring touch? Lol.
