David Moyes has given team news in the form of quotes ahead of Wednesday’s game against Manchester City.
The manager has already fulfiled his contractual obligation for a press conference before the Man City game that was called off because of storm Ciara so didn’t see the point of a second press conference at Rush Green today.
Asked about team news by the club’s own media team Moyes said: “Good. Hopefully we will have a few more back from injury and we are looking a bit stronger than we were certainly in recent weeks.”
On Felipe Anderson chance of returning, he said: “He’s back around training and he’s been on the pitch so he’s back closer to fitness and hopefully he will be close to being able to start.”
Asked whether Anderson would travel to Manchester and be included in the matchday squad the manager said “I’ve not actually decided yet if I am going to put him in the squad but I will look to see. He wasn’t in the squad when we were travelling up to Manchester a week or so ago. He’s had a few more days training and I will see how he is just before we go to Manchester.”
The next two games are, going by form, likely to end in defeat. But it is still a chance for players to gel by playing together. Another factor is what these games could do to our goal difference. This could be vital come the final reckoning. Central midfield is strengthened by the arrival of Souceck. My greatest worry remains full-back…on both flanks.
to play them, or not, that is the question. Do we stand a chance against City or ‘pool. Nope. Could some of our finest be injured if they play? Yep. Ergo, be very careful with decisions.
Mr Moyes,
Please ensure Soucek & Bowen play & that perpetual failures Masuaku & Noble are left out to commence team playing together understanding for the run in battle against relegation. Hopefully Antonio is fit now & Anderson must be saved until fully fit because these two need to be protected to ensure their full fitnesss for winable matches rather than risk further injury break down in less likely result matches versus Man City & Liverpool.
Yeh , john . But to say the games against City & Pool are unwinnable is rather like giving up the game before we start . If players are deemed fit enough they should play imo . Who knows what surprise we might present to either City or L’pool . Don’t see much point in saving them for a break your legs battle with relegation threatened teams . If we can put out our best team for these crucial games win or lose , at the very least they will have the chance to get match-fit for the remaining 11 games . The clubs around us also have tough games ahead and I can see no reason not to go for it . Of course it’s a dodgy situation for us but if you don’t go for it you might just as well give up now .
COYHAMMERS
We’d have more chance of staying up if they sack Moyes and brought in my Grandma, how can these failed backward thinking managers still get jobs???? Poor ownership……..
Only GSB can replace a bad manager with a worse one……
play rice in a back 3 drop the woeful cresswell and bring in the kid with pace start Bowen start Antonio start Soucek, we are fighting for our lives, we need a leader not a puppet, being back king Trevor
Before calling Noble a failure you need to see the stats, which state we win more games with Noble in the team than out. In fact he wasnt even able to rest a game when called off the bench against WBA. No true supporter would call their captain a perpetual failure.
He has a lot of miles on the clock and his legs are fading but he gives everything he has playing in a very weak midfield surrounded by players devoid of confidence. Is Diop a donkey for not clearing the ball against Burnely allowing woods in? Is Fabby a donkey for punching the ball into Oggys back?
I do however agree about Masuaku. He would never get in my team as he is clearly doesnt give 2 £$$£$%R$. If he did he would be more careful where he loses the ball and he would be more conscious of players in space behind him. The owners gave him a new contract this season. What chance have we got with them in charge?
Masuaku got the blame for a poor clearance, but wind back a few seconds to when Cresswell played him a short ball ie I’m not going to get caught in possession so I’ll give it to you !!
Yes he is better going forwards, but he was not entirely to blame for the last game’s result! To say that any professional doesn’t care is wide of the mark. No one goes out to deliberately play badly !!
Let’s get behind the team COYI
