Moyes sends Benrahma message as he bigs up Fornals

David Moyes has bigged up Pablo Fornals in pre-match press conference ahead of the Hammers trip to Anfield in what may be a fight for your place hint to new signing Said Benrahma

There’s no surprise that he should be showing his enthusiasm for the Spanish midfielder  because his commitment, desire and energy typify what the Hammers boss is really all about.

He had no hesitation in offloading the likes of Chicharito whilst at Manchester United and of course Felipe Anderson to Porto.

Despite Fornals’ struggles to make any sort of real impression  he is now looking a much better player and looks to have found exactly the right type of boss to suit his game in Moyes.

Asked about the Spanish 24-year-old midfielder the manager told reporters this morning ‘Pablo has done really well, he is a really likeable boy and he works incredibly hard for the team.

We are always demanding more from him because we want him to contribute with assists and goals and he has been doing that. He’s been more involved and I have to say, his energy and enthusiasm in training is incredible and we really like him.

What we have got here is the slight makings of a young group of players who are all doing well and giving us a much bigger energy than in the past.’

Fornals could of course soon be facing competition from Said Benramha but the former Brentford star could find tough replacing him as the manager is clearly building a squad which will give him options and the pair are different types of player.

Moyes has made it clear he is no rush to give Benrahma his chance preferring to follow the same model with Jarrod Bowen who he eased into the team.

The next few games are likely to be important for Fornals, he will want to prove that he is not the player to be dropped to make way for the new signing and he will have been encouraged by the manager’s words.

  1. Hope that was a typo m8 ” he is a really likeable buy””sure Mr Moyes ment boy😯😯

  2. Pablo Fornals needs to improve his goalscoring technique to become really good. It is amazing how lots of practice makes finishing easier. The more practice, the more confidence. Maybe watch Michail Antonio and how he is comfortable with any kind of finish. This is not a taught skill but a practiced skill. ‘Natural’ goalscorer Antonio is happy enough with any kind of touch which gets the desired result. It doesn’t need to be rehearsed and perfect. Instinctive and confident is the name of the game. This approach is not just for finishing – assists also happen this way. As said, it might be off the cuff and the ‘play by numbers’ brigade (and team mates) will be frustrated now and again as it seems not to have had an end result, but the team will benefit with enough effort.
So, Pablo. Looking better already this term but practice confident finishing (under the bar and between the posts) and impromptu, instinctive play and you’ll do fine!

  3. Look I like Fornals the guy covers the pitch , I also think Benrhama will be good ,so interesting . DM makes the choices so Said will have to work hard . After all isn’t that what we want to see, hard work, effort , never say die attitude . That’s West Ham , I hope we keep up the team spirit no matter who plays . COYI ⚒
