Moyes set to give young striker the nod

tonimartinez2Toni Martinez looks set for a place on the bench at Everton after missing the Irons under 23 Checkatrade Trophy match at Wycombe last night (Tues).

David Moyes has been impressed with the young striker along with Declan Rice who is also with the first team squad for the clash at Goodison Park.

The young Spaniard has been in great goal scoring form form for the youngsters this season and is the third of the academy products to appear in the first team squad, Domingos Quina being the other.

David Moyes has several options at his disposal tonight and will decide whether Michail Antonio is ready to make the action in a vitally important clash.

Some added spice has been added to the game – although it was hardly necessary – with the news that  Sam Allardyce is expected to attend with his confirmation as the new Everton boss imminent.

Sky sources are reporting that he has agreed a deal to take over the Toffees.

  1. I think Rice should start along side Reid.
And AC will start tho I think Sakho would be good I think he might be written off even tho on good form.
But need someone like Ayew who at least as a knack for scoring.
But think Toni on the bench is good especially if he gets a run out if were are up by 3.
Moyes will hopefully makes Sub’s earlier that is one thing I worry about waiting till Injury time

  2. Really don’t give a shhhit who plays as long as we win . Really don’t give a shhhhit who plays where as long as we win . Really don’t care who scores for us as long as we win .
    3 points .

  3. With the team put out tonight we will get spanked ! He can’t see cresswell and zabba are not good enough ! Ayew instead of sakho ?? Wtf is going on there !!4-2-3-1 ?? He’s having a giraffe mate !😤. 100 million needed to improve this team ! Were going down !! 2-0 already 😈

    • Lazarus, I 100% agree with you here. The full backs are dreadful, the only way to get rid of them is to play 3 centre half’s and use masuaku and antonio as wing backs. Unbelievable how we dont start sakho, hes the only forward in our squad who can lead the line by himself.

      • 😉 3-5-2 is our best on balance for me with this team ! We need the pea and sakho !
If only antonio could pass a ball ? Or cross even ? Poor bloke can do nothing right lately
Moyes has no chance with this squad its been obvious for far to long now that defensively we are not good enough ! If sully doesn’t dig deep then Moyes will find it hard to turn this side around !! 😕

  4. Playing Ogbonna instead of Rice.No recognised striker either. Its gonna take a miracle and a lot more than 30mill in january.Ironic how its always the same players that haunt West Ham every season. Its plug Rooney tonight again.Sakho and Martinez on for 2nd half.

  5. Noble has to play instead of Obiang. He it’s becoming an embarrassment.

  6. keep the youngsters for the championship as this lot couldn’t win an argument poor is too good a word for em. Everton turn up with a rookie defence & West Ham play like they don’t know each other I use to be a optimist but there’s nothing in this team that shows any passion or love for the shirt pure dross

  7. we have had it people we are going down for sure

  8. oh well back to the championship it is wot a shower of crap

  9. Terrible. Fine then, give it to the away support.

  10. It was very disappointing, the away support were amazing, it is very hard to take positives from that and the Davids are going to need to dig deep in central midfield and central defence we look hopeless. Although Rooney will take all the plaudits it was Gueye and Davies aswell as Calvert-Lewin who for me were the big difference, they overran us in midfield. In the second half apart from two poor defensive lapses we actually played well with Sakho upfront and Lanzini deeper, the injury for Reid should mean that Rice gets some game time. I swear Zaba aged 20 years in that match and although it was for nothing the players did still keep fighting in the second half and trying. On player ratings on first half it was 2 or 3 out of 10 all around except Masuaku who deserves a 6 on second half, Sakho deserves a 7 and Lanzini and Masuaku. I am not sure what Ayew was doing today or Kouyate they looked lost chasing their tails, our inability to close players down on the edge of our box allowed them to score two very easy goals, and Antonio should have let Rice challenge his player instead of barging him out of the way and allowing the worst player on the Everton team Ashley Williams a free header. We actually created a lot of good chances we just never had anyone in position to take them because they were ahead of the ball or went far post when they should have gone near post. Moyes will not be happy but we have to regroup other than Everton every other team at the bottom also got pasted so the situation is no different from the start and we conceded goals from pretty much every attack Everton had which is very unlikely but again poor defending and decision making to blame so those are things that can be improved, if we sort the defence and central midfield out we can turn things around.
