Moyes slams “scandalous, rotten, incredible” decision

David Moyes was left absolutely astonished by the decision to disallow Maxwel Cornet’s last-gasp equaliser against Chelsea.

We all know what happened but it bears repeating.

The summer signing from Burnley slammed the ball home after Edouard Mendy failed to claim the ball when Jarrod Bowen ran through.

Somehow, for some reason unbeknownst to anyone, VAR intervened and decided that there had been a foul on the goalkeeper.

It was a genuinely astonishing decision, and Moyes did not hesitate to absolutely let rip at the referee, Andrew Madley, after the match, both on the pitch and in his press conference.

Quoted by BBC Sport, he said: “You have seen it, it is a scandalous decision, absolutely rotten from one of the supposedly elite referees – it doesn’t say much about whoever sent him over from VAR as well – it is an unbelievable decision against us.

“We feel we got back to 2-2 and it was not down to anything we have done. I support a lot of the VAR stuff, I actually think the goalkeeper dives, he is faking an injury because he cannot get to the next one – he did the same on the first goal as well. The referee somehow gets that so wrong it is incredible.”

We’ve got to sympathise with Moyes here, too, because he’s absolutely spot on.

This was a decisive decision that ultimately gave Chelsea all three points, and robbed the Irons of what would have been a deserved draw.

Let’s hope there are no repercussions for what Moyes has said here.

  1. Managers are not allowed to critisise referees decisions , which I think is totally anti democratic and coercive to the point that free speech is penalised with fines for speaking their true beliefs,
So that the real opinions are stiffled , for What !
In the meantime a so called top ref , In Madley is wrong in accepting the verdict of a complete idiot of Gillett who can’t be trusted again to be on VAR .
Both of these below amateur status officials should be removed to the national league for their incompetence in officiating .
Is there a conspiracy against the hammers as this is now a second time injustice has occurred after the forest game. Also look at the VAR stats, whu are right up there for indiscretions .

  2. I guess that this is what happens when you legitimately take on the Big Six and the Natural Order of things…
    This was NO Accident!
Repercussions?… for being factual and telling the truth?
There are certain established practices in life that need to be questioned and this is just one of them.
