Harry Maguire remains very high on David Moyes’ West Ham wanted list.
And Claret and Hugh understands that the manager has told David Sullivan to do everything he can to get him to the club.
Manchester United have already turned down £20 million for the 30 year old central defender but a source close to the Hammers has revealed that the boss has told the that he wants everything possible done to get him into the London Stadium.
This is despite the player being on £170k a week and United wanting well in advance of the last Hammers offer. But the scenario presents the problem that the Hammers have no sell on price advantage were, for example, the former Leicester City man to sign a two, three or four year contract.
The Claret and Hugh source revealed the position saying: “The manager sees Maguire as a priority signing and has told David Sullivan to do everything in his power to get him.”
So depressing.
Past his best, slow, overrated, overpriced, hideously overpaid, just up Moyes street. Should be able to sell him on at a loss, no problem
If this doesn’t prove that David Moyes has lost the plot and needs removing then we need to look at the competency of the Chairman.
ha ha ha what a joke of a ( hold on so called football club) once graced with fine players in yester year & now going for other clubs asbeans. I’m so glad I gave my season ticket up as I’ve never liked Moyes or the current owners, I feel sorry for the fans who go home & away to watch dross served up by a dinosaur manager taxi & aeroplane for Moyes please or I can see relegation this season
Sullivan tells Moyes: “Get Lost”.
I can only hope…
At a cost of 40m and wages of 200k a week, total package close to 100m with signing on and agent fees and then the potential of little or no return on that investment !!! I just can’t see how the club can sanction this from a business perspective. A total waste of time even trying to negotiate a deal. From a club perspective we are better off signing a player that is 23/4:on lower wages and with the potential of a huge resale value. Links to players like Maguire, WP etc is for me of either lazy recruitment or Moyes completely ignoring our recruitment team. If the later is the case it is another example why moyes must go. I don’t see Moyes having the interest of West Ham at heart. I see it as all about him and no one else. Its his way even if its not in the best interests of the club The sooner he is gone the sooner we can move forward.
I feel links to McGuire, ward-prowse etc are lazy too due to the managers inability to blend in players from overseas leagues quick enough. Last season perfect example which ended in a poor league position. This is partly why Moyes isn’t a top manager and is trying to protect himself from another poor season.
In this instance I hope and pray that Sullivan’s powers of negotiation elude him. Surely there’s better options available.
Ah yes the red bull model in action
Why in God’s name is he so desperate to get Harry Maguire? Size of transfer fee does not indicate quality; let’s not forget that he cost Manchester United more than Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk, and if anyone says that Harry Maguire is a better player than Virgil van Dijk then they are not paying attention. If (as one of the other stories indicates) Maguire thinks he is worth more than the club has bid, when he won’t be playing for Manchester United anymore, then he’s an arrogant pillock and we should be walking away and leaving him to it.
Ogbonna, Zouma, Kehrer Aguerd Maguire.
Sounds perfect for Moyes.
So Maguire becomes the Dawson replacement? You’re ‘avin a larff.
12 million for Dawson- Maguire not worth 40.
Why would Sullivan listen to Moyes? when he’ll be off next summer.
Nay Nay Thrice Nay
Our priority can’t be another centre-half (and certainly not Maguire) until we’ve signed a central mid to play alongside Soucek, a left-back so Cresswell can have his move, and
another striker (if any of Antonio, Ings and Scamacca move on)
Spot on Buster, I think Maguire isn’t as bad as he is being made out to be he just doesn’t fit into a high pressing team set up, but agree central midfield, left back and striker are the key positions, am hopeful if we do sign McTominay and Ward-Prowse that the central midfield positions will be good fills, even if we didn’t sign Ward-Prowse, Flynn Downes isn’t a bad reserve but we need someone defensively minded, was hopeful on Paulinha and Edson Alvarez who are more pure in those roles and can do more as a single pivot than Declan did who requires a double pivot. As for strikers who knows we basically need someone that as Antonio put it can feed off scraps because it is a tough thankless task in a Moyes team.
Sack DM and get Tim S to help find a new gaffer, its the way forward. No more Moyseball please.Donkey Maguire not good enough for premier league.
Agree with Buster, if we sign this overpriced ego he will expect to play first choice, and some will agree for that massive fee and wage – so our priority is to replace either Zouma or Aguerd as first choice with this 30 year old, who is arguably slower than Ogbonna? Or is Moyes looking to pay him 200k a week to sit on the bench? Good use of the Dec Dosh? Not for me.
